Preggo Princess

As the co-owner and ‘professional princess’ for Girly-Girl Partea’s Inc, I carefully planned the final events I would be able to do prior to having a visible baby bump. The two events below were quite fun. We had a luau themed Frozen party complete with a swimming Little Mermaid character. We even dressed our Snowman (Olaf inspired) up with a straw hat, Hawaiian shirt and lei. It was so much fun doing ‘what frozen things do in summer!’

The other event was a Daddy Daughter Date Night for a local Chick-fil-A restaurant. They have this magnificent horse drawn carriage to give the kids rides around the parking lot. Cinderella is my favorite princess, so it was quite fitting that this was my final princess event prior to going on maternity leave.

Of course, as the co-owner of the company, I continue to run the business, with other girls ‘princessing’ for me. I certainly miss bringing magic to birthday parties and community events, but it gives me a great goal for post party to get my princess body back 😉

Day of the Dead Surpise

My husband’s birthday is on October 18th, the perfect time of the year for a spooky Halloween themed party. We’ve done a classic ‘Halloween’ theme for the last couple years so this year we wanted to do something a little different. We decided on a “Day of the Dead” theme with his favorite meal, tacos. Most of these decorations were purchased from the Dollar Tree. I used an authentic Mexican blanket as the table cloth (could you tell it was a Princess blanket?!) and black lights to really give everything a nice pop. We kept within the general color scheme of black, white and neon so that everything would glow under the lights.

I painted skulls with glow in the dark paint to give them the glow in the dark look while also keeping with the Day of the Dead theme. The drink table had a cauldron with dry ice (purchased from Publix) and all types of glowing colored liquids. I gathered all the unique and fun shaped vases I could and filled them up with water, adding just a cup or so of Tonic Water. This caused the liquid to glow under the black light (normal water will not glow!).

As an added surprise for this spooky affair, I had a skeleton shirt on that had a tiny little baby skeleton on the stomach part. After all the food was cooked and ready, I took my apron off and waited for our friends and family to notice. It was incredibly exciting to share the news with all our loved ones in person, and it was a neat surprise to see their reactions!

Maternity Announcement Photos

We recently worked with the incredibly talented Madi Mack to have maternity pictures done in St. Augustine to announce our big baby news. We took pictures in September on Magnolia Ave, one of the most photographed streets in St Augustine. We used fall as our inspiration with painted “We’re Expecting…A Little Pumpkin” pumpkins.

We just had to include our beautiful ‘furry’ kids in the pictures, Sasha and Aiden, with chalkboard signs that said “They’re getting us a human” and “New Sibling Coming May 2015 and Not the Furry Kind”.

We also did pictures with the sonogram picture of baby Peloquin.

Madi had a fabulous idea too, to do a pose that we could recreate at each additional photo session as my belly grew.

DIY Disneybound Anna Tank Tutorial

For my best friends bachelorette party, we took a trip to the happiest place on Earth. First day was spent at Magic Kingdom with the second day in Epcot for the Food and Wine Festival. This was the perfect opportunity to Disneybound and I knew exactly what I wanted to make.

FB_IMG_1437590970051-1My Anna inspired tank top from Disney’s hit movie Frozen, was super easy to make. Using a $3 tank from Wal-mart, I designed the adventure wear corset pattern to print on a dark t-shirt iron on transfer. I embellished the top of the tank with gold trim from Hobby Lobby with a simple stitch on my sewing machine, though I am sure fabric glue would work well too if you prefer not to sew.

10616230_10152236763405518_3299362655513915289_nThe shorts were a thrift store find (love Plato’s Closet) and I ironed the designs on using the same dark t-shirt paper. The short designs were definitely more tedious. I cut out the designs with a razor knife and the whole process took me about an hour.

I had just found out I was pregnant the week before this trip which meant I was super paranoid about riding the bigger rides. So what better to do while my group was riding the new Seven Dwarf Minetrain, meet Anna and Elsa of course! Both of which loved my outfit by the way.

shoesTo really put my outfit over the top, I tried my hand at painting some character shoes to wear. I purchased the shoes from Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon, so they were only about $5.

I drew out the design in pencil first and then painted using fabric paint. After the paint dried, I coated them in modge podge and clear coated them to preserve the paint. Overall, they held up pretty well, despite the rainy weather.

Coast Guard Send Off Party

My brother decided earlier this Spring that he wanted to pursue a career in the Coast Guard. Flash forward two months and now he is preparing to ship off to basic training. I wanted to make his send off party extra special, so together with my dad’s awesome watermelon carving skills and my mom’s delicious cooking, we planned a party sure to send him off in style.

The menu was full of all-American comfort foods (hamburgers, hotdogs, mac and cheese, etc) with a touch of themed foods to make it fun! We had clam cookies made from vanilla wafer cookies, icing and pearl hard candies, displayed on plates of brown sugar to mirror the look of sand. We also had sail boat cups that were made from blue jello with orange slices and white paper sails. The centerpiece of the display was the watermelon carved shark which was certainly the talk of the party.
